The main objectives of the Network:

. To create and establish synergies between the Network members. These synergies will enhance the component parts between the different fields, contributing to interdisciplinary nature and the holistic approach, needed to educate for sustainability.

. To achieve a conceptual and working formula that will help reach an education for sustainability in the different education fields present in Catalan society.

. To enhance adaptation processes and transferability of the educational mechanisms for the sustainability in other educational institutions, administrations, businesses, research institutes and the media, using new technologies.

. To evaluate the achievements from the point of view of the objectives, as well as from those of the procedures and results.

. To be a strong and stable point of reference in research about Education of Sustainability.

Two of the mentioned main objectives are: exploration and qualification of the environment and sustainability contents that each field of knowledge should have and evaluation of the methods used to educate for sustainability.

Specific Objectives to be achieved in 1 year:

. Goal 1: to explore and define the state of the issue about education and research for sustainability at a national level as well as State and International levels.

a)     Contents and strategies:

. Goal 2: to define the competences, attitudes and values that the future holders of the degrees that are part of the research groups implied will have (and /or invite participants from other fields)

. Goal 3: to limit the contents for sustainability to a minimum and optimal in relation with the characteristics of each field of knowledge from the perspective of the “significant learning”

b)     Evaluation:

. Goal 4: to study the impact and efficiency of strategies applied for a reorientation towards sustainability in education.

. Goal 5: to design or validate a goal measuring tool (qualitative and /or quantitative) of the education for sustainability for educative institutions, capable of evaluating the ambits of the educational incidence of the institutions: syllabi, materials, institutional dynamics, research, pedagogic strategies.

Specific Objectives to be achieved in 2 years:

a)     Contents and strategies:

. Goal 6: to design and apply afterwards innovative, integrative, multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary pedagogic mechanisms and strategies and give the university studies and the ongoing training a new orientation towards sustainability.

. Goal 7: to evaluate the quality mechanisms of the research regarding the education for sustainability (adverse effects of the research).
